Wildcard Search on POS with just one letter does not find items beginning with that letter

Legacy KB ID: 5150

Question

Why doesn’t POS wildcard search return the items beginning with that letter?

Answer

When searching for items starting with a particular letter, or series of letters, enter A*??.

The Issue

The POS wildcard search does return items beginning with the letter searched, but it will also show any item containing that letter.  The search is showing you items that meet the search criteria above those starting with that letter.

Adding wildcard characters after the letter will still show those sequences within the item name and not just starting with that letter.

Workaround

When you want to see only items beginning with a letter or series of letters, use the following search format:

K*??

LA*??
