Cannot backup Reckon Accounts Personal File to Reckon Tools Online Backup

Question

Why can’t I backup my Reckon Accounts Personal file to Reckon Tools Online Backup?  I sometimes get the error “File NOT backed up”.  The Reckon Tools Online Backup login screen does not appear. 

Answer

This problem may develop where:

·         The file name is longer than 5 characters.

·         There is a Buy transaction to an investment account before the Opening Balance date

 

Workaround 1:  rename the file to 5 or less characters.

 

Workaround 2:

1.    Validate the file:

a.    File > File Operations > Validate.

b.    Click Browse to select the file to validate > OK.

c.    When validate is complete, proceed to Super-Validate:

File > File Operations > hold down Ctrl+Shift keys and select Validate > select file > OK.

2.    Backup the file – it should save locally and to Reckon Tools Online Backup.
